Trudie Styler’s ready-to-cook meals win good food award
Lake House Table brand honoured for high standards
13 July 2011

Trudie Styler – celebrity food and film entrepreneur – has won an award from the Compassion in World Farming group in recognition of the exceptional welfare standards associated with the production of the free range chicken used in her ready-to-cook Lake House Table Kitchen Suppers.
Trudie – the wife of rock musician, Sting – is a well-known champion of higher animal welfare food and has often been quoted advocating humane practices in rearing animals for food.
She was therefore thrilled to hear the news that Lake House Table – the brand she started with food industry professional Ed Olphin, and named for her magnificent country estate in Wiltshire – had been selected to receive the Good Chicken Award 2011.
Having business commitments abroad, Trudie was unable to attend the Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards ceremony, hosted by Michelin-starred chef Paul Merrett, in Covent Garden, London. Her partner Ed Olphin was on hand though to accept the Good Chicken Award on behalf of Lake House Table.
“This award means a great deal to Trudie and myself because we are committed to the need for good practice in the food industry,”
said Mr Olphin.
“We are scrupulous about provenance and welfare standards in our choice of ingredients for our range of Lake House Table Kitchen Suppers, and this award proves that we have been successful in offering premium values along with superb product quality. It also positions our brand among the leading edge food businesses of its type.”
Mr Olphin said that free range chicken is an excellent system to rear chickens in
“The birds themselves have a better quality of life, with access to the outdoors where they can peck, scratch and forage in the fresh air. They have a natural diet and are physically healthier. ”
The Lake House Table Kitchen Suppers are hand-prepared using fresh, farm-assured raw ingredients at premises near Trudie and Sting’s Wiltshire estate. They are packaged in portions big enough for two, with cooking instructions, ready to cook and serve up in around 10 minutes. The meals are available to order through the Ocado online service, and can be found in the fridges at Waitrose stores in the London area.
WONDERFUL WILTSHIRE
We admit it. We are unashamedly proud of the beautiful county we live, farm and cook in and some of the reasons why are summed up by Trudie in a recent article in Wiltshire Life.
